SWJTU and Politecnico di Milano agreed last week that the two universities would establish mutual-benefit cooperation tie in the pursuit of better internationalization development based on the signing of the Letter of Intent.
Giovanni Azzone, the President of Politecnico di Milano (PDM), led a delegation to visit SWJTU on last Tuesday. As a world-class university in Italy, PDM is renowned for its advanced scientific research equipped with sophisticated facilities and brilliant minds.
To constantly enhance the global cooperation network, PDM emphasizes the cooperation with its counterparts located in Southwestern China, with the eye on those higher institutes reputed for the unique advantages among certain disciplines. SWJTU, a research-orientated comprehensive university characterized by its conspicuous research advantages on high speed rail, is on the list.
“We are looking forward to building substantial tie with Politecnico di Milano, regarding to the common interest underlying internalization development shared by both institutes, ” said Xu Fei, the President of SWJTU.
Xu highlighted the significance of developing bilateral cooperation tie between the two universities, adding that there are massive potentials to explore in terms of faculty and student exchanges as well as conducting joint research projects.
Giuliano Noc, the Vice President of Politecnico di Milano, briefed on the achievements made through intensive cooperation with Chinese higher institutes, especially stressing on the plans to step up the efforts to develop cooperation tie with its counterparts in Chengdu and Xi’an. More exchanges and cooperation among rail transit are expected to be carried out by the two universities.
