On March 21, an Italian delegation led by Sara Ferrari, the Vice Governor of the Autonomous Province of Trento, visited SWJTU. President Xu Fei met the delegation at Xipu campus.
Xu spoke highly of the profound history and splendid culture Italy bore, particularly those great historical events - such as Bologna Process - that witnessed the big step of human beings.
“With the enhancement of China-EU cultural exchange mechanism, people-to-people exchanges between China and European countries continue to deepen,” said Xu, “and we should work closer because both of us share the common responsibility of addressing the thorny issues including sovereign debt crisis and refugee crisis.”
Local governments, enterprises and universities are developing a closer cooperation tie than before, aiming at providing more possibilities for the social and economical development, said Xu.
Mrs. Sara Ferrari, the Assessor of Trento, highly evaluated the abundant research and personnel strength of SWJTU as to the numbers of scientific breakthroughs achieved in hi-speed rail.
Paolo Collini, the President of the University of Trento (UOT), introduced that UOT has grown into a first-class Italian university with obvious research advantages in Europe during merely fifty years. He hoped the cooperation like students and staff exchanges in the fields of electronics technology, information technology and material science would be implemented in the near future.
Xu briefed the guests the historical development, achievements and visions of the university, and hoped the two universities would be engaged in substantial cooperation.
The delegation visited the School of Architecture Design after the meeting.
The University of Trento is an Italian university located in Trento and nearby Rovereto. It has been able to achieve considerable results in didactics,research, and international relations according to CENSIS and the Italian Ministry of Education.
