On November 10, Southwest Jiaotong University and Moscow State University of Railway Engineering(MIIT) signed the agreement to jointly develop Sino-Russian Frozen Soil Research Center at SWJTU.
In the unveiling ceremony, Wang Xiaoru, the Assistant to the President, expressed her sincere welcome to the delegates and highlighted the tremendous efforts made by the two universities to establish and reinforce the cooperation tie.
President Xu Fei this July was invited to attend the Sino-Russian University Presidents Summit held in Moscow. In the event, Xu on behalf SWJTU signed the Memorandum of Understanding with MIIT, drawing an overall cooperation blueprint for the two universities.
“The two universities will be engaged in systematic and long-term cooperation on frozen soil research to build the research center into a widely-recognized and innovation-centered institute. I wish the Sino-Russian Frozen Soil Research Center a great success,” said Wang.
Shepitko Taisiia, the Director of Institute of Orbit, Architecture and Construction Research, spoke highly of the research advantages of SWJTU and was committed to working closely with the SWJTU counterparts to contribute to the scientific and technological development worldwide, especially those of railway.
At the invitation of SWJTU, MIIT delegation paid a official visit to SWJTU from November 8 to 11. He Chuan, the Assistant to the President, introduced the major scientific projects undertaken by SWJTU and accompanied the delegation to visit the Key Laboratory of Traffic Tunnel Engineering, Ministry of Education of China, the Institute of Bridge Structure and other research institutes.
